What companies do you usually work with and how do you help them optimizing their processes?
My Swiss clients are leaders in the process analytics and machine manufacturing industry, whereas here in BC, lumber and food are the main driver for small and mid sized businesses.

You moved from Switzerland to Revelstoke in 2018. Why did you decide to establish a life in Canada?
In 2004 I travelled BC and enjoyed skiing in the Rockies and Selkirk’s. During this trip I also met my wife and after living together with her in Switzerland for about 15 years it was time for a change. We both love the Kootenays, and the decision was made quickly.

What opportunities do you see in the Canadian market?
Intronic is located in an area where there is not a lot of integrated automation. Many small businesses here are developing some interesting products. The small towns in BC are popular and progressing. With this in mind, I see an opportunity to help innovative companies ramp up their production, improve their quality control systems and reduce hazards in a manufacturing line.

To my surprise, business picked up faster than I thought.

What are the biggest challenges for your business?
Process automation combines multiple technologies like electronics, mechanics, and software. Besides of all of this, like in every business a project needs to be managed, supplies must be organised, and sales is another mayor part. What I am saying is, my team is small, very small and to grow to a size where Intronic can handle bigger projects on it’s own, we need to find the right people and partners to work with.

What is always in your suitcase when you come back from Switzerland?
I don’t know yet. Since my move, I haven’t been back in Switzerland. Maybe some specific tools and a good bottle of wine.

Thank you, Erik, for taking the time to give us some interesting insights!
