After last year’s virtual silent auction, the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) was very happy to host this year the famous Christmas Reception and Silent Auction event again in person. 60 people followed the invitation and joined the SCCC to safely celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.
On December 9, 2021 the SCCC had the pleasure to welcome around 60 members and friends to the Italian Cultural Center in East Vancouver. It was great meeting safely again in person and reconnecting with old and new members. SCCC president, Fabian Lemann, officially opened the event with a short welcome speech reflecting on the past two pandemic years elaborating how the Chamber had successfully managed to transition into the online world.

Like last year, the silent auction was hold online to ensure that also members outside of Vancouver could participate. There were quite a few bidding wars going on, especially when it came to popular items like Swiss cheeses, wines and a sailing voucher. For the very first time, over 100 items were offered at the auction which is a new SCCC record. This would not have been possible without the generous support of our members and friends. A big thank you to everyone who donated and helped us in the past few weeks and months. This event would not have been possible without you!

This year’s Christmas Reception was also a special night for SCCC Admin, Melanie Ferreira. After over two years living in Vancouver and working for the Chamber, she decided to relocate back to Switzerland in the new year. We are very sad to see Melanie go but are happy for her new European chapter. We would like to thank her again for all her excellent work in the past two years. Find the official president’s message about Melanie’s departure here.
We would like to thank everyone for attending this event, bidding so generously and donating amazing prizes. We appreciate your ongoing support of the Chamber and wish you all a safe and healthy new year!
